An All Nippon Airways jetliner briefly flew almost belly up when it nosedived off Shizuoka Prefecture en route to Tokyo early this morning, the Japan Transport Safety Board said Wednesday.
Flight 140 from Naha, Okinawa, with 117 crew and passengers aboard, managed to land at Haneda airport in Tokyo despite dropping around 1,900 meters from a height of about 12,500 meters in 30 seconds.
Two flight attendants were slightly hurt, while six passengers later complained of feeling unwell.
The narrow-body aircraft continued to roll until it reached 131.7 degrees to the left, leaving it almost belly up, according to the board.

Luckily, such maneuver acrobatics didn't become serious.
Aren't pilots permitted even to go to the bathroom while they are flying...?

Teenage girl dies in "exorcism"
A 13-year-old girl suffocated after she was strapped down and doused with water by her father and a monk who were trying to expel an "evil spirit".
The two men are suspected of having conspired in what they call "water service".
They allegedly strapped the victim to a chair with belts and poured water over her as an "exorcism" with the father holding the girl down whil the monk chanted sutras.
I think it was not an exorcism but a torture.
Japan adopts the freedom of religion, but human life should never be trifled with.

AKB48 2nd Janken Tournament
AKB48's 2nd Senbatsu Janken Taikai was held yesterday night, determining the participating members for the groups 24th single, scheduled for release on December 7th.
In the end of the tournament, 25-year-old Mariko Shinoda emerged as a champion, securing the center position for the single.
Mariko Sinoda has already been so popular and so active in show business that she might have less greed for the center position.
Good luck is coming to such people.
That's how it goes.

Longest Fingernail
Professional singer Chris Walton, who has a combined total of nearly 20 feet(= 6 meters) of nails, celebrated in New York after being named in the newly released 2012 edition of the "Guinnes Book of Records".
Walton, who sings in Vegas and goes by the stage name "The Dutchess", has been growing her nails for 18 years.
She does her own makeup and household chores despite the challenges posed by her extremely long nails.
"I hate all the cleaning, but I do it. And the makeup, I only wear so much," said Ms. Walton.
Guinness spokesman Stuart Claxton said that Ms. Waltton was a "unique beauty."
Anyway, how does she manage herself in the toilet after doing her business...?

Kosoku
If you are asked the meaning of 姑息(kosoku) by a foreigner, most of you may answer that it is "wicked" or "nasty".
But it's wrong.
Japanese word 姑息(kosoku) means "一時しのぎ(ichiji shinogi = makeshift or stopgap)".
According to the latest survey announced by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, only 15.0% of Japanese know the correct meaning of kosoku, and 70.9% of them misunderstand it for wicked and nasty.
......over 70%......
Which is correct...?

Crocs at large
After the heavy rain in Japan, people are apprehensive of the possible burst of natural landslide dam.
But in Thailand, people are concerned about the possible attacks by ferocious reptiles.
Many crocodiles have escaped Monday from the Million Year Stone Park and Crocodile Farm's reptile pools after floods swept their habitats.
What a horrible aftermath...

Broccoli Saddles
Broccoli bicycle saddles were found in the University of Tokyo.
It's a fanciful and elaborate hoax!!
Students of Tokyo University have a talent for mischief as well as for study.
Anyway, it's so fun to imagine that the students worked hard to do it carefully and secretly. (^□^;)

Feline Love Triangle
3-year-old Malayan tiger Seri killed 6-year-old Wzui at about 4 p.m. on Thursday in an enclosure at El Paso Zoo.
Zookeepers had not observed any signs of aggression leeding up to the attack, and that the two tigers had been seen playing affectionately at the exhibit earlier in the day.
However, zoo authorities reported what they called a "tiger love triangle" between Seri, Wzui and 15-year-old female called Meli, who was transferred to El Paso from a zoo in California.
The male tiger Wzui likes both females, but the two females don't like each other.
There's more ways than one to kill a cat, but females are horrible in any world, indeed...(^o^;)

Brightest Moon
Today is 十五夜(Jugoya).
Since ancient times, Japanese people have described the eighth lunisolar month as the best time for looking at the moon.
We also call the full moon "中秋の名月(Chushu no Meigetsu)", which means the brightest and the most beautiful moon in the middle of autumn.
It is traditional to gather in a place where the moon can be seen clearly, decorate the scene with Japanese pampas grass called "Susuki", and to serve white rice dumplings called "Tsukimi dango" to the moon in order to pray for an abundant harvest.
Here is my handmade Tsukimi dango.
Japan's changed a lot compared to last year, but the beauty of moon has never.

A Town of Death
Japan's new trade minister Yoshio Hachiro has resigned, after just eight days in office, followingtwo separate incidents where comments he made were deemed to be inappropriate and insensitive.
Yoshio Hachiro, 63, announced his departure at a news conference late on Saturday, apologizing repeatedly for calling evacuated area around the striken Fukushima nuclear power plant "a town of death."
What's worse, Japanese media reported that Hachiro had attempted to rub up against the journalist saying "I'll give you radiation," after the visit to the Fukushima plant on Thursday.
What a stupid gaffe and behavior!!

Real World or Exercise?
Ahead of the 10th anniversary of the 9.11 terrorist attacks in the United States, a set of audio files of conversations and transmissions in the planes used in the attacks has been released.
→ Audio Transcript "A New Type of War"
The 114 files were released by a team at Rutgers University on Thursday.
The team analyzed the material after recieving team from an independent commission investigating the attacks.
The materials include conversations in the 4 hijacked planes and exchanges between the planes' ordering and flight controllers.
We can hear the voice of Mohamed Atta, who was one of the hijackers on American Airlines Flight 11, saying like this.
Atta: "Nobody move. Everything will be ok. If you try to make any moves you will injure yourself and the airplane. Just stay quiet."
The recording also include exchanges between an air traffic controller in Boston and an official in the North American Aerospace Defence Commend.
Cooper: "Hi, Boston Center, TMU, we have ah a problem here, we have a hijacked aircraft headed towards New, New York and we need you guys to, we need someone to scramble some F-16s or something up there to help us out."
Powell: "Is, is this real world or exercise?"
Cooper: "No, this is not an exercise, not a test."
Such exchanges have raised concerns about a lack of coordination between U.S. air authorities and military officials.
10 years have passed since then, and the world's been trying to eradicate the cruel terrorism.
What on earth had been really solved, anyway...?

Be Magical!
Tokyo DisneySEA celebrated its 10-year anniversary Sunday with special events featuring Mickey Mouse and other major Disney characters dancing on boats and greeting visitors.
The theme of celebration is "Be Magical!"
Tokyo DisneySEA opened on September 4th, 2001, as Disney's first marine theme park in the world.
The park is located next to Tokyo Disneyland in a waterfront area of Tokyo Bay.
The two parks were closed for a month and a half after the area was hit by the March 11th earthquake.
But the number of visitors returned to the year-before level in July before increasing on a year-on-tear basis in August.
I hope that more and more people go to Disney parks, enjoy there, and their smiles will be a magical effect on depressed Japan.
I really want to go to Disney if I have more holidays and a good partner...
