Orange Battle

Thousands of people took part in the traditional Battle of Oranges in the Italian city of Ivrea.

Legend has it that several centuries ago, an uprising against local tyrant burst out in Ivrea, during which citizens were throwing stones at the tyrant's troops.

To commemorate the event, stones were replaced with oranges during subsequent commemorations of the event.

400 or 500 tons worth of oranges were pelted each other.

It seems to be fun, but to clean up the city after the battle must be toil and moil. (^o^;)
